We're here!
While it was a little sad to say goodbye to Chiang Mai and all of the good, cheap vegetarian fare, it's nice to be on the move again. Luang Prabang has a completely different atmosphere than anywhere else we've been so far. It's like we happened upon a sleepy little town. I'm glad it still has this vibe. While it is busier than I remembered, and some things have changed (like wifi everywhere, and granola on offer at cafes!), the town seems to have maintained its tranquil atmosphere.
After flying in yesterday, we checked in to our guest house (which, it turns out, has the most heavenly beds ever!!!) then went for a stroll through the night market, where many of the hill tribes people bring their handicrafts to sell. While walking around, we couldn't help but notice the number of women with babies- there was obviously some big part here last year!
Today, after enjoying granola, yoghurt and fresh fruit for brekky at the cafe next door, we're heading down/up? the Mekong, to Pak Ou caves, then back to town to climb Mount Phousi for sunset.
