Lunar New Year
I think I've blogged about it before, in Korea the lunar new year means getting together with family to honour the ancestors and eating lots of yummy food. A kind of alter is prepared and the family bows to their ancestors. The children also bow and do '세배' and are given money. Which is what Carol and Beth are doing in this picture.
There are particular foods that are typically prepared for this holiday, such as ddeok guk ( rice cake soup)
According to the Chinese zodiac, this year is the year of the snake, or 뱀 in Korean.
The Chinese zodiac has 12 animals ascribed to it, which also are considered in terms of an element and colour.
The characteristics of the snake include intelligence, gracefulness and materialism. Snakes analytical when it comes to making decisions and love to surround themselves with luxury.
1953 and 2013 are years of the black, water snake. If you are a water snake, you are said to be;
Influential, motivated, insightful, and highly intellectual are words that best characterize Water Snakes. These Snakes work well with others and enjoy being recognized and rewarded. They’ll reveal feelings to those closest to them, but no one else.
* I was born in the year of the rooster, and my element is metal. Apparently;
These Roosters have really big egos and are forever seeking willing listeners who can help keep those egos inflated. Metal Roosters analyze everything. Their aggressive nature keeps some prospective friendships and relationships from developing.
What do you think?
My horoscope for 2013;
Classy Rooster: Stylish Rooster is center stage in 2013. Marital or family difficulties may arise. If so, be tactful and avoid personal disagreements. A journey, move, or change in family structure could be the solution to job related matters.
I'd say this horoscope is pretty spot on,wouldn't you agree?
